Karnali

Karnali is one of the 14 zone that lies in Nepal. It is named after the karnali River as Karnali river flows in it. It lies in Mid-Western Development Region. Karnali zone is one of the least developed zone of Nepal even though Karnali is the largest zone of Nepal. Karnali zone contain two of three geographical region which are Mountain Region and Hilly Region. Jumla is the headquarters of this zone. Karnali zone consist of five district which are Dolpa, Humla, Jumla, Kalikot and Mugu. Its neighbouring zones are Seti, Bheri, Rapti and Dhawalagiri. The main inhabitants of this zone are Sherpa while people from other caste like Brahmins, Tamang etc too live here. The main occupation of this zone is Animal Husbandry while Agriculture, Trade, Tourism are side occupation of this zone. The climate of this zone is cold and rainy. Rara National Park, Rara Lake, shey Phoksundo National Park is one of the important tourist area of this zone.
